Notion databases as an Apple TV dashboard, from roadmap to OKRs

Notion is where a lot of teams keep the roadmap, the OKRs and the content calendar as databases with a Status property. Dance Party reads the pages you share with it and turns those databases into an Apple TV dashboard for the office display, so the roadmap is something people see, not a link they have to open.

What Dance Party reads from Notion

Dance Party reads Notion through its public API with a connection you approve in Notion. It can only see the pages and databases you shared with it, and pages nested under them. It only sends read requests.

How to connect Notion

Before you start

  • An owner or admin of your Dance Party workspace makes the Notion connection.
  • A Notion member who can open the pages and databases you want on screen. On Enterprise plans, a workspace owner may need to allow the connection first.
  • No integration token or developer setup. You pick pages in Notion's own screen.

    In Dance Party's Integrations page, find Notion and click Connect Notion.

    Notion opens. Check the workspace in the top right, review what Dance Party can do, and click Select pages.

    Tick the pages and databases to share, such as Product Roadmap or OKRs. Pages nested under them come along. Click Allow access.

    Back in Dance Party, the Notion card reads Connected.

    To share another page later, open it in Notion, click the ••• menu, choose Connections, and add Dance Party.

One Notion connection per workspace

A workspace connects one Notion workspace, and every Notion widget reads the pages shared through that connection. To show pages from a second Notion workspace, connect it from a separate Dance Party workspace.

Read-only, and only for the pages you picked. Dance Party never creates, edits or comments on a Notion page. To stop sharing one page, remove Dance Party from that page's Connections menu. To cut it off entirely, open Settings, then Connections in Notion, click ••• next to Dance Party and choose Disconnect.

From Notion to your office display

Once Notion shows Connected, the rest happens in plain English. No code, no drag-and-drop.

Notion dashboard questions

Can I show a Notion database on a TV in the office?

Yes. Share the database with Dance Party when you connect, ask DJ Agent for the view you want, and assign it to a screen running the Dance Party Apple TV app.

Can Dance Party see my whole Notion workspace?

No. It sees only the pages and databases you ticked when connecting, plus pages nested inside them. Everything else stays private.

Why can't DJ Agent find my Notion page?

It has not been shared with Dance Party. Open the page in Notion, click •••, choose Connections, add Dance Party, and ask again.

Does it use my own Notion properties?

Yes. Dance Party reads your database schema, so a widget counts by your Status options and charts your Progress numbers, not generic fields.

How many rows of a Notion database can one widget read?

Up to 300 rows per read. For bigger databases, filter to what matters on screen, such as this quarter or Status is not Done.

Can Dance Party edit my Notion pages?

No. It only sends read requests to Notion. It cannot create, edit, move or comment on pages or database rows.
