What Dance Party reads from Monday.com

Dance Party reads Monday.com through its GraphQL API with read-only OAuth scopes. It sees the boards the person who connected can access, and every request is a fixed read query. Owner data comes through as counts, never names or emails.

How to connect Monday.com

Before you start

  • An owner or admin of your Dance Party workspace makes the Monday.com connection.
  • A Monday.com user who can open the boards you want on screen

    From Integrations in Dance Party, click Connect Monday.com.

    Sign in to Monday.com and pick the account if you belong to more than one.

    If Dance Party is not installed on that account yet, Monday.com shows an install screen. An admin clicks Install.

    Approve the read-only permissions: your profile, boards, account and workspaces. After approval you land back in Dance Party with the card marked Connected.

    Ask DJ Agent for a board by name, for example the Q4 Launch board, and assign the widget to a screen.

One Monday.com connection per workspace

One Monday.com account per Dance Party workspace, read as the person who connected it. Connect as someone who can see every board you want on screen, because a board they cannot open will not show up.

Read-only. The four Monday.com scopes can read your profile, boards, account and workspaces, and Dance Party never sends a mutation. It cannot create, move, update or archive an item. Disconnect on the Integrations page, and a Monday.com admin can uninstall the app from the account.

Can I put a Monday.com board on the office display?

Yes. Connect Monday.com, ask DJ Agent for a board's battery, status chart or deadlines, and assign it to a screen running the Dance Party Apple TV app.

How does Dance Party decide an item is overdue?

The item's date is before today and its status is not a done label. It uses the board's date column, or the one you name when there are several.

Can it show owner names from Monday.com?

No. Dance Party counts how many items each owner holds but never displays Monday.com names or emails, so a workload view shows counts only.

What about boards with more than 500 items?

The summary covers the first 500 items and the widget labels it that way. A deadline list can be narrowed to one group, such as This month.

How often does a Monday.com widget refresh?

Hourly by default. Monday.com's Free, Basic and Standard plans allow 1,000 API calls a day, so Monday.com widgets stay on the default interval.

Do I need a Monday.com admin to connect?

Only the first time. A Monday.com account admin installs the Dance Party app once. After that, the person connecting just needs access to the boards.

Can Dance Party change items on my board?

No. Every request is a fixed read query, so it cannot create, move, update, archive or delete items, boards or updates.
